Brunello Cucinelli Academy: The School of High Contemporary Craftsmanship

Founded in Solomeo in 2013 by Brunello Cucinelli, the Scuola di Alto Artigianato Contemporaneo offers training in excellence in the sartorial and craft arts. With practical and theoretical courses, the school aims to preserve and enhance Italian craftsmanship, guiding young talents in the creation of projects that combine tradition and innovation.

The Scuola di Alto Artigianato Contemporaneo per le Arti e i Mestieri di Brunello Cucinelli (Brunello Cucinelli High School for Contemporary Arts and Crafts), located in Solomeo, is an educational reality of excellence that aims to hand down and revitalize Italian craftsmanship. Founded in 2013, this Academy was born from the collaboration between the Cucinelli company and the historic local manufacturing traditions, becoming a point of reference for those who wish to learn the finest skills in the field of fashion and manual arts.

Also through this project, I want to restore moral and economic dignity to labor, particularly manual labor, and consequently, to the individual.

Brunello Cucinelli

The courses, which range from pattern making to men’s and women’s tailoring, from knitting to attention to details such as mending and linking, are led by masters who have years of experience within the Brunello Cucinelli company. The school adopts a hands-on teaching method, inherited from ancient artisan workshops, where learning is based on working alongside experts. The goal is to train professionals capable of combining creativity and manual skills, restoring prestige and value to craftsmanship.

The Academy is inspired by the principles of great visionaries such as John Ruskin and William Morris, key figures in the Arts and Crafts movement. Through this training, it aims not only to pass on technical skills, but also to cultivate a cultural and humanistic vision that focuses on craftsmanship as an art form and heritage identity.

The 9-month courses include intensive attendance and the opportunity to participate in internships at the Cucinelli company. Students selected through a public call for applications have the opportunity to receive a scholarship covering the entire course.
