After great public and critical success, the exhibition Oltre il Reale: David LaChapelle a Bologna at Galleria Cavour 1959 has been extended until Saturday, April 5, 2025!
With over 11,000 visitors in its first weeks, this event has established itself as one of the most significant art events of the year, receiving incredible feedback from the public and the press.
But that’s not all: to celebrate the extension, the exhibition will be enriched with a previously unseen work by LaChapelle, Taking Mummy for a Walk (1998), a powerful and evocative work that will lead you to reflect on the tension between past and present, life and death.
With more than 30 works on display, including the never-before-seen Tower of Babel (2024), the exhibition invites the public to explore LaChapelle’s unique approach of turning each image into a visionary tale. From celebrity portraits to spiritual reflections, from reminders of climate change to bold interpretations of pop culture, each shot is an invitation to look beyond the visible. Iconic works such as After the Deluge: Cathedral and Snow Day will guide visitors through a kaleidoscope of symbols and emotions.

The choice of Galleria Cavour 1959 is not random. This historic place, which has always been a crossroads of tradition and innovation, blends harmoniously with LaChapelle’s artistic vision.
The exhibition, curated by Deodato Arte in collaboration with Contemporary Concept, is open free to the public with varied hours to ensure access for all.

David LaChapelle, born in Connecticut in 1963, is a visionary photographer who has redefined the boundaries of contemporary photography. After studying at the North Carolina School of the Arts, he moved to New York when he was only 17, where he began his career thanks to Andy Warhol, who hired him for “Interview Magazine.” His unique style, characterized by surreal compositions, intense colors and imaginative narratives, soon made him famous in the world of fashion and celebrities.
In the 1980s and 1990s he collaborated with iconic magazines such as “Vogue” and “Rolling Stone,” and then evolved to deeper themes such as spirituality, climate change and the human condition. His works, exhibited in the most prestigious international museums and galleries, are famous for their mix of surrealism, pop art and social criticism.
His best-known projects include the photo books “LaChapelle Land” and “Heaven to Hell,” as well as the documentary film “Rize” (2005), distributed in 17 countries. With a consistently provocative and innovative approach, LaChapelle continues to be a leading figure in contemporary art.
