GALLERIA CAVOUR 1959

Giorgio Pizzighini. L’ingegnere coraggioso

The Palazzo Boncompagni Foundation launches the new educational notebook “Giorgio Pizzighini. The Brave Engineer. Galleria Cavour 1959 told to boys and girls” (Pendragon Editore), in italian languege, a text dedicated to young children that reveals the history of one of Bologna’s most iconic places. Designed for children ages 8 and up, but also suitable for younger children with the help of adults, the workbook invites them to discover Galleria Cavour 1959 through interactive games and creative stimuli.

CAVOUR GALLERY: A LIVING HISTORY SINCE 1959
The brainchild of visionary engineer Giorgio Pizzighini, Galleria Cavour 1959 transformed an area damaged during World War II into a unique hub of architecture, culture and commerce. Opened in 1959, it represents the beating heart of shopping and lifestyle in Bologna, hosting international and innovative brands that have made fashion history in the city.

The Gallery is not just a place of passage, but an ideal bridge that connects Bologna’s historic squares – Piazza Minghetti, Piazza Cavour, Piazza Galvani and Piazza Maggiore – making the city center an experience to be experienced and discovered.

We are happy to raise awareness of the importance of Galleria Cavour 1959, an iconic building and symbol of Bologna’s postwar reconstruction and rebirth, to which we have also dedicated four exhibitions. Since its origins, Galleria Cavour 1959 has been a landmark for families in Bologna and beyond, a place where shopping is intertwined with art, culture and wellness. Thanks to the educational notebook, the little ones can learn about the history of this special place through play, and they can be accompanied by side events such as puppet shows on the green terrace. This Christmas season, they will also have the opportunity to have fun among festive decorations, meet Santa Claus and his sleigh for a souvenir photo, and admire Pietro Terzini’s striking illuminated lettering on the facade. Galleria Cavour thus confirms itself not only as a lifestyle symbol for adults, but also as a place designed to make younger people dream and have fun.”
