Barbour’s jacket was launched in 1894 and quickly became an iconic outerwear item.
A symbol of several generations, it has been widely photographed on members of the British royal family as they enjoy moments outdoors, from Lady Diana to Princess Anne, and now to Kate Middleton and Prince William. On April 1, 1974, the Duke of Edinburgh, Philip, bestowed the first Royal Warrant, a prestigious award given to companies that have provided services to the royal family for at least five consecutive years. In 1982, the queen grants a second Royal Warrant, and in 1987, comes the third Royal Warrant from the Prince of Wales, further cementing the company’s reputation.
