Our warmest wishes to Brunello Cucinelli on his 70th birthday!
Brunello Cucinelli was born Sept. 3, 1953, in Castel Rigone, a small town in Umbria. Raised in a humble environment, in contact with nature, Cucinelli reminds:
“I still have in my senses the scent, sounds and lights of the rural life in which I was born. We were a family of thirteen, living in the countryside in Castel Rigone, in a rustic farmhouse surrounded by fields, orchards and woods.”
When he was fifteen years old, his parents, like many other peasants, decided to move to the city to seek job opportunities as laborers. The impact of this change was particularly significant in Cucinelli’s life, as he observed the fatigue in the faces of his parents, particularly his father, when they returned from work. This experience affected him deeply and made him aware of the importance of respect for people’s moral and economic dignity.
Although he was not yet clear about his future career, Cucinelli knew that he would dedicate his life to this principle. This experience greatly influenced his business philosophy and his commitment to ethics and sustainability, which would become fundamental pillars of his fashion brand.
In 1978 he founded Brunello Cucinelli SpA.
His vision is to combine traditional Italian craftsmanship with fine materials, creating an elegant yet comfortable luxury, especially valued today in the era of quiet luxury.
His company is renowned for its focus on quality and sustainability; in fact, Cucinelli was one of the first in the industry to engage in sustainable practices, placing significant emphasis on social and environmental responsibility.
In addition to his career in fashion, Brunello Cucinelli is also known for his philanthropic efforts. He has funded numerous cultural, social and educational projects through the Brunello and Federica Cucinelli Foundation, which he founded with his wife.
His approach to ethical entrepreneurship, promotion of sustainability, and refined style have made Brunello Cucinelli a style icon and a leader in the luxury fashion industry.
