GALLERIA CAVOUR 1959
Galleria Cavour 1959 is preparing to welcome spring with an extraordinary floral display for Easter.
This year, the gallery atmosphere will be pervaded by a riot of azaleas and olive trees, symbols of peace, once again transforming the Galleria Trivio into the Green heart of Bologna.
The Trivium is also home to Michelangelo Pistoletto’s celebrated Third Paradise, a work that embodies the harmony between nature, man and technology. Next to this contemporary masterpiece, a colorful Easter tree radiates joy and vitality, bringing with it ancient traditions mingled with modernity.
The Tree of Life
The Easter tree, also called the “tree of Life,” is depicted in the Bible in two passages of Genesis (2/9; 3/22): “The Lord God caused the tree of life to sprout in the midst of the garden”; “Man shall not stretch out his hand to pluck, nor yet gather of the fruit of the tree of life, to eat thereof, and to live for ever.”
With the resurrection, which took place after death, Jesus Christ reopened man’s access to paradise and gave him back the opportunity to pluck the fruit of the tree of life, the fruit of immortality.
Giving it a pagan meaning, the Tree of Life is associated with the festivities that were held in past centuries to celebrate the arrival of spring, a sign of nature’s rebirth after the long winter.
Decorations with flowers and eggs, symbols of rebirth and prosperity, represent the succession of seasons and the return of spring.
