Saint Laurent Productions participated in the 77th Cannes Film Festival with three feature films, “Emilia Perez” by Jacques Audiard, “The Shrouds” by David Cronenberg and “Parthenope” by Paolo Sorrentino.
Saint Laurent Productions is a registered subsidiary of the Maison and marks the first fashion house to count film production among its activities in its own right. The division, envisioned by Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent, is in line with Vaccarello’s assured steering of the brand into the future, while echoing the cinematic breadth and nuances of his collections.
By producing films, Saint Laurent’s name is anchored in time.
When a fashion ad campaign is put on, it’s so fast that a month later, we forget about it.”

The idea, which launched a year ago with Pedro Almodovar’s queer western short, Strange Way of Life starring Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke, has a double value. It diversifies from pure fashion and has a return of visibility on film audiences, as well as often creating casting costumes. As is the case in Emilia Perez with a red mermaid dress worn by co-star Zoe Saldana.
The Belgian designer and now producer, who describes himself as a cinephile, a fan of Pasolini or Fassbinder, chose the directors himself, from among the names in cinema, and asked to be associated with them from the script-writing stage. Vaccarello also says he wants to “collaborate with young directors” in the future.
I want to work with and provide a space for all the great film talents who have inspired me over the years”
