You are so much, Yves Saint Laurent.”

Last night, September 29th, at the foot of the glittering Eiffel Tower, Anthony Vaccarello presented Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection.
Gold was the defining color, featuring sahariennes and trench coats in metallic cotton, cocktail dresses in metallic lace and jackets and trousers in gold brocade. It was a precise reference to Yves Saint Laurent’s Autumn 1991 Rive Gauche show, which concluded entirely in gold. Here, the approach was reversed: the show opened in gold and closed in black.
Three large candelabra chandeliers cast shadows across the black lacquer runway. The Eiffel Tower shimmered twice; at the beginning and at the end of the show.
To close the event, Charlotte Gainsbourg, wearing a black Saint Laurent dress, sang a song with a chorus that repeated the line: “You are so much, Yves Saint Laurent.” Exactly ten years after his debut for the fashion house, Vaccarello stepped out to applause.
